The Kingdom, in the person of ambassador and permanent representative of the Kingdom to the UN agencies in Rome, Youssef Balla, was elected vice-chair of the 173rd session of FAO Council, the Organization’s executive body between sessions, which examines, in particular, issues linked to the global food and agriculture situation.
The Council also deals with current and future FAO activities, including the work program and budget for administration and financial management, as well as constitutional issues.
The 173rd session was also marked by the election of the Kingdom as a member of the Finance Committee for the period from July 2023 to July 2025. This Committee assists the Council in exercising its control over the Organization’s financial management.
Morocco was elected, last Thursday at the 43rd session of FAO Conference, member of FAO Council, representing the African regional group, for a three-year term (June 30, 2023 – June 30, 2026).
