These meetings, held on the sidelines of a high-level meeting on skills in the Mediterranean organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the European Union (EU) in Madrid from 11 to 13 July, were also an opportunity to review the progress made by Morocco in the field of vocational training, particularly after the launch of the Cités des Métiers et des Compétences (CMC, Cities of Trade and Skills) program.
Sekkouri met with Pilvi Torsti, Director of the European Training Foundation (ETF), an EU agency based in Turin, Italy, which supports the development of human capital in the EU’s neighboring countries.
The Minister also held a working session with Santiago Iñiguez, President of IE University, a higher education institution specializing in “training influential leaders”.
In a statement to MAP, Sekkouri said that these “fruitful” meetings were an opportunity to exchange views on the challenges of vocational training and skills development in the face of changes in the international labor market.
In this respect, the Moroccan minister stressed the importance of forging partnerships with prestigious international institutions to support the momentum generated in Morocco.
Moreover, he stressed the need to take advantage of new technologies to successfully meet the challenge of skills training in Morocco, reiterating the government’s determination to provide young people and skills all the tools necessary to develop their training paths.
