Basketball: Atlas Lions Crowned Champions of AfroCan 2023

Luanda – The Moroccan national basketball team won the AfroCan 2023, reserved for local players, after beating Côte d’Ivoire, Sunday in Luanda (Angola), on the score of 78 – 76.

In the semi-finals, coach Labib El Hamrani’s protégés beat defending champions Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by 76-69.

After winning in the opening match against Rwanda (59-58), Morocco lost to Tunisia (67-52), before claiming three consecutive victories against Cameroon, Kenya and the DRC, thus ensuring its place in the final of this African competition.

For its part, Côte d’Ivoire was beaten in its first match by Kenya, before catching up against Gabon and Mali, then dismissing Rwanda in the semi-finals with a score of 74 to 71.

In the classification game for 3rd and 4th places, Rwanda defeated the DRC by 82 to 73.
