Israel’s Recognition of Morocco’s Sovereignty over the Sahara to Pave Way for Broader Cooperation between the Two Countries (Israeli Academic)

Tel-Aviv – Israeli academic researcher Orna Baaziz said that Israel’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara will pave the way for broader and more intense cooperation between the two countries, extending to the Kingdom’s southern provinces.

Commenting on the Israeli government’s decision to recognize the Moroccanness of the Sahara, the Israeli academic stressed in a statement to MAP that this decision was in the natural direction of things, noting that many results would flow from it, notably those linked to the development and support of investment and trade and the development of cultural exchanges.

She recalled the great dynamism of the national cause in recent years, reflected in the United States’ recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, successive international acknowledgements of the Sahara’s Moroccanness, and the decision of several countries to open consulates in the Kingdom’s southern cities.

She pointed out that this tangible diplomacy was also accompanied by a dynamic drive led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, noting that this dynamism reflected the extent of the esteem and respect enjoyed by His Majesty the King at international level.
