Tangier: British National Arrested for Alleged kidnapping, Assault and Robbery (Security Source)

Tangier – Police at the Tangier-Ibn Batouta international airport arrested, on Sunday, a 26-year-old British national of Moroccan origin for his alleged involvement in a case of kidnapping, assault and robbery at knifepoint.

According to a security source, the suspect had tricked two people, including a Dutch national of Moroccan origin, into an apartment in Tangier, pretending to be able to convert a sum of money in national currency into a digital currency, before kidnapping the two victims using violence, then robbing them of their belongings. He was assisted by other accomplices, the same source added.

Investigations into the case led to the identification of the main suspect, before he was arrested at the Tangier-Ibn Batouta international airport as he was about to leave the national territory, the same source noted.

The suspect was placed in police custody to complete the judicial investigation carried out by the judicial police brigade of the Bni Makada security district in Tangier under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to reveal the ins and outs of this case and to arrest all the alleged accomplices in these criminal acts, the same source concluded.
