Explosion Kills 17-Year-Old Boy during Ashura Celebration in Settat

Settat – A 17-year-old boy died and another was seriously injured on Thursday night in the explosion of a small gas cylinder used in a reckless and irresponsible manner by a number of teenagers during the celebration of Ashura, according to local authorities.

A group of teenagers had gathered at around 11 p.m. in one of Diour Itissalat’s arteries, on the road linking Benahmed to Settat, setting fire to tires in an irresponsible behavior that undermines the safety of people and property.

These teenagers threw a small gas cylinder, where the fire broke out, causing an explosion that injured two minors, said the same source, adding that one of them succumbed to his injuries, while the other one is currently in critical condition under medical supervision.

An investigation has been opened by the competent services under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to clarify the details of this accident and to determine legal responsibilities, the same source concluded.
