The rescued individuals, who set sail from a country south of the Kingdom, were transhipped and taken aboard the Royal Navy unit for transport to the port of Dakhla, the same source said, noting that among them were a woman, five bodies and 11 migrants in critical condition.

The would-be migrants, all of Senegalese nationality, received first aid on board the Royal Navy unit, before being brought safely back to the port of Dakhla on August 6, 2023 and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the military source said, adding that five bodies and 11 individuals in a critical state of health were all evacuated to the Hassan II hospital in Dakhla.
