Women’s World Cup: For the Lionesses, the Adventure Ends, Not the Dream (INSIGHT)

Rabat – The Moroccan women’s football team ended, on Tuesday, their adventure at the FIFA World Cup, which is being held in Australia and New Zealand, after conceding a defeat against the French team on the score of 4 to 0, but without ever falling short of the expectations of a first-time participant in this world football showpiece.

The participation of the Atlas Lionesses in this competition will forever be engraved in the national collective memory as a fabulous, memorable and inspiring epic, having earned the Kingdom a very conspicuous entry into the pantheon of great women’s football nations.

Although Ghizlane Chebbak’s team-mates failed to progress beyond the round of 16, they nonetheless leave the competition with their heads held high, having achieved one of the most honorable records in this global competition with bravery and dignity.

History will remember with great esteem and admiration that they wrote their names in gold letters in the annals of world football, for having achieved an unprecedented double feat and believing in their talents to the end of their breath, to the end of their dream.

Thanks to their performance, Morocco can be proud of being the first Arab country to qualify for the Women’s World Cup, but also the first Arab nation to go beyond the group stage.

The beautiful adventure of the Atlas Lionesses thus comes to an end, but Morocco emerges from it grander at the cost of a spectacular breakthrough obtained thanks to long-term work and sustained efforts marked by the seal of seriousness, self-sacrifice and dedication, in accordance with the enlightened Vision of HM King Mohammed VI.

Their performance against world-class teams such as South Korea and Colombia, ranked 17th and 25th respectively by FIFA, bears witness to the rapid rise of Moroccan football and the determination of the Atlas Lionesses to first command the respect of their peers, then inspire the younger generations to assert themselves in the sporting arena, nurture great ambitions and give themselves the means to succeed.

Thanks to this remarkable feat, which was achieved at the cost of a steely mentality and unfailing courage, they are becoming a source of inspiration for young Moroccan sportswomen who have the right to dream big and cultivate their passion for the round ball to carry the Kingdom’s colors high and far.

Through the impressive fervor they generated, the Atlas Lionesses proved once again that sport is a universal language that can unite people and inspire young people everywhere to defy the odds to achieve excellence.

In many ways, their saga marks the beginning of a new chapter for women’s national football. A source of pride for the entire nation, their prowess, against all the odds, has won the admiration of opponents and friends alike, giving full expression to the greatness of Moroccan women’s football.

Following in the footsteps of the men’s team at the Qatar-2022 World Cup, the Lionesses of the Atlas proved that the impossible is not Moroccan, and that “all things come to those who wait”.
