Women’s World Cup 2023: Morocco’s Participation Is Success – Club Coach

Casablanca – The Moroccan women’s national team, eliminated on Tuesday by France (0-4) in the Round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup being held in Australia and New Zealand, has had a successful World Cup, said AS FAR women’s coach Mohammed Amine Alioua.

“We should be proud of the performance of the Atlas Lionesses at this World Cup, despite the defeats to Germany and France,” he told MAP news agency after the match between the Moroccan team and its French counterpart.

“The Moroccan players have honored the national jersey, insofar as their first participation in this flagship football event was crowned by a historic qualification for the Round of 16, which is a feat in itself,” he emphasized.

Against Germany and France, he pointed out, the Moroccan players had to deal with world-class teams with traditions in this competition, believing that the national team was not 100% ready for these two matches.

In contrast, he added, the Atlas Lionesses rose to the occasion, particularly on a psychological level, against South Korea and Colombia, showing strength of character and a determination to win.
