Rabat: British Official Highlights Importance of Partnership with Morocco in Sustainable Development

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌​ ​ ‌​ ​ Rabat – The British Minister of State for Foreign Affairs for South and Central Asia, North Africa, the UN and the Commonwealth, Lord Ahmad stressed, Tuesday in Rabat, the importance of sharing expertise between Morocco and the United Kingdom in sustainable development.

In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of a reception organized by the British Embassy in Rabat to celebrate the achievements of the two kingdoms in green and sustainable finance, Lord Ahmad stressed the need for this sharing of experiences to meet the challenges of climate change.

In this regard, he reported that he held talks with the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, focusing on mechanisms to advance in improving the energy mix and the issue of green hydrogen.

The British official, who also met during the day with the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, noted that the United Kingdom has a “very strong” educational offer, expressing his wish to see young Moroccans take advantage of this offer “to study in several of our leading and world-class institutions.”

For his part, the British Ambassador to Morocco, Simon Martin, highlighted the quality of privileged relations between the two kingdoms, recalling, in this sense, the launch of a strategic ministerial dialogue and the signing of an association agreement between the two countries.

The diplomat stressed the need to take advantage of this new instrument, welcoming the development of excellent bilateral relations.
