Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Abroad Opens Reception Center in Rabat

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Rabat – The Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad opened, Friday in Rabat, a reception center for the benefit of Moroccans from all over the world, as part of the 2022 Marhaba operation.

This center opened at the headquarters of the Foundation until September 15 (from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm and 7 days a week), has mobilized executives specialized in legal and economic fields, as well as two specialized executives of the Directorate General of Taxes and the National Agency for Land Conservation, to assist the Moroccans diaspora and respond to their requests.

The Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad has six poles, deployed to best meet the needs and expectations of Moroccans living abroad in education and cultural diversity, legal and social assistance, art, culture and communication, cooperation and partnership or economic promotion, including a remote service provided every day from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.

During a meeting with the press, director of the cooperation and partnership pole of the Foundation, Fouad Benmakhlouf noted that this center which was created in 2000 and structured in 2002, has the mission to develop cooperation actions with public authorities, NGOs or international organizations specialized in migration issues.

“Each year, the Foundation receives nearly 200 projects of a social, cultural or sporting nature, for the benefit of MREs,” he said, indicating that the Foundation ensures the deployment of activities in favor of Moroccan sportsmen and women abroad, the elderly, children or women who now represent nearly 50% of Moroccan immigration.

For his part, the legal expert Zakaria El Omari stressed that the legal and social assistance pole plays an intervention role in favor of Moroccans abroad, to accelerate the management of their administrative and judicial disputes on the national level.

This is done in coordination with the national courts and public authorities concerned in order to provide the necessary legal assistance and preserve the rights of Moroccans living abroad, he added.

Created in 1990 by the late HM Hassan II and chaired by HRH Princess Lalla Meryem, the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad is governed by Law No. 19-89 promulgated by Dahir No. 1-90-79 of 20 Hijjah 1410 (13 July 1990). It is a non-profit institution, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy. Its purpose is to work for the maintenance of the fundamental links that Moroccans residing abroad have with their homeland and to help them overcome the difficulties they encounter due to their emigration.

To this end, the Foundation deploys a wide range of programs in the cultural, legal, economic and social fields, which mobilize more than 700 people, including more than 600 abroad.
