14th Rabat International Nautical Festival Kicks Off

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌​ ​ ‌​ ​ Rabat – The 14th International Nautical Festival of Rabat, held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, kicked off on Sunday.

The first day of the festival, organized by the nautical club of the beach of Rabat until July 30, was marked by the organization of the triathlon competition which is part of the 2022 Throne Cup with the participation of Moroccan nautical clubs and members of the national team.

The program of this sporting event includes competitions in water skiing, sailing, rowing, kayaking and surfing, as well as activities such as chess.

In a statement to MAP, the president of the nautical club of the beach of Rabat, Zouhair Charki said the festival, which is entering its 14th year, has successfully established itself in the calendar of national and international competitions held in the Kingdom. This sporting event aims to promote the tourism capabilities of Rabat, City of Light, he added.

This international event, attended by several Arab and European countries, such as France, Tunisia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden and England, aims to make the city of Rabat a destination for lovers of water sports and encourage young people to practice these sports.

For his part, the President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Triathlon, Majid Amahroq said that this festival organizes for the first time the competitions of the Throne Cup of this discipline.

The triathlon competitions are experiencing increased participation at the national level, he added.

Mr. Amahroq described the festival as a good opportunity to prepare for upcoming continental events in which the national team will take part, such as the African championship scheduled in Tangier, as well as the international tournament to be held in Agadir next October.

Participation in the festival of Rabat is an opportunity for practitioners of triathlon, especially the categories under 15, 16, and 17, to compete against professional athletes and gain more experience, he explained.
