Symposium Celebrating 5th Anniversary of Action Plan for Religious Leaders /Actors Kicks Off in Fez

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌​ ​ ‌​ ​ Fez – The high-level international symposium, celebrating the 5th anniversary of the plan of action for religious leaders and actors to prevent incitement to violence that could lead to criminal atrocities, opened Wednesday in Fez.

Organized by the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights, the Rabita Mohammadia of Ulema in Morocco in partnership with the United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect (OSAPG), this symposium aims to focus on good practices and lessons learned from the implementation of the “Fez Plan of Action” and to examine the means and mechanisms of implementation of the document to support international efforts to establish a foundation for peace and security, promote human rights and foster sustainable development.

This high-level meeting was attended by senior UN officials, representatives of the UN system and other international organizations, Moroccan government officials, religious actors from the Rabita Mohammadia of Ulema, representatives of civil society, experts and other relevant actors who have contributed to the development and implementation of the “Fez Plan of Action”.

The Fez Plan of Action is the result of two years of consultations that began in Fez with leaders belonging to different faiths and religions of the world, under the auspices of the United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect.
