Organization of Jewish Community: Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain Expresses ‘Gratitude’ to HM the King

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Madrid – The Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain (FCJE) has expressed its “gratitude” and “thanks” to HM King Mohammed VI, following the establishment of a new organization of Jewish communities capable of ensuring effective and harmonious management of communities throughout the national territory.

In a statement released on Saturday, the FCJE said it “received with great joy and emotion” the statement of the spokesman of the Royal Palace on the creation of three organizations that care for the heritage of the culture and traditions of the Jewish communities of Morocco, “thus promoting initiatives for coexistence and peace between two peoples, many of whose members share a common past and a future full of hope”.

The mechanism submitted to the High Appreciation of His Majesty the King, developed after extensive consultations with representatives of the Jewish community and personalities belonging to it, includes three bodies, namely the National Council of the Moroccan Jewish Community, the Commission of Moroccan Jews Abroad and the Foundation of Moroccan Judaism.

HM the King’s decision confirms, once again, the Sovereign’s “commitment” to Jewish communities and “is in line with the European Union’s provisions to protect and promote Jewish life in Europe,” the Federation said.

“Morocco (…) becomes an example for other countries to follow and contributes to creating a framework for reunion and coexistence,” the Jewish Communities of Spain said.

”Many generations of members of our communities came from Morocco many years ago and still have very close ties with the culture of coexistence, which is essential to our values,” the statement concluded.
