During this meeting, the chairman of the commission Hicham Mellati, also director of criminal affairs and pardons at the Ministry of Justice, presented to the American official and the accompanying delegation, the Moroccan experience in the fight and prevention of human trafficking, as well as the efforts that have been made to fight and prevent this crime, said a statement from the Commission.
The meeting, which was attended by officials from the U.S. Consulate in Casablanca, was also an opportunity to discuss the main points and observations cited in the latest annual report published by the U.S. Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, as well as means of cooperation and coordination between the two institutions, it said.
The Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons is an agency of the U.S. Department of State responsible for investigating and creating programs to prevent human trafficking both in the United States and abroad. It also presents its annual Trafficking in Persons Report to raise awareness of and prevent human exploitation and trafficking.
