The barracks were built by the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN) in partnership with the province of Chechaouen.
The construction and equipment of this building, carried out on high royal instructions, as part of the development program for the communes of the district of Jebha, required a budget of 5.8 million dirhams, an APDN statement said.
The inauguration ceremony of the new barracks took place in the presence of the wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia, the governor of the province of Chefchaouen, Mohammed Alami Ouadane, the Director General of the APDN, Mounir El Bouyoussfi, the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, Colonel Hicham Mataich and several other figures.
Located at the entrance to Jebha, on the Tetouan side, the barracks were built on a 467 sqm area and house a set of administrative spaces on two levels.
The construction of these new barracks of the Royal Gendarmerie will strengthen the safety and security of Jebha, which is experiencing major urban development thanks to the multisectoral program for the development of the communes of the district, initiated in 2019 by HM King Mohammed VI and aimed at promoting the development of the emerging rural centers.
