This is an exceptional performance that allowed the recovery of 100% of the arrivals of June and July 2019, the ministry said in a statement, adding that the summer season of 2022 has confirmed the recovery of the tourism sector.
This recovery momentum is reflected in all other indicators such as the number of overnight stays, which totaled 3.8 million for June and July 2022.
In terms of foreign exchange earnings, the sector generated 27.3 billion dirhams during the first half of 2022, i.e. an exceptional recovery rate of 81% compared to 2019. The month of June alone accounts for about 25% of these revenues, it added.
Moroccans living abroad have contributed to this growth, with the arrival of 1.4 million nationals in July 2022.
