The Unified Social Register: Prelude to Enabling Citizens to Benefit from Direct Support (Head of Gov’t)

Rabat – The Unified Social Register system (French acronym RSU), on which the Government is working, is a prelude to enabling citizens to benefit from direct support, said, Wednesday in Rabat, Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

In a statement to the press following a meeting he chaired on ways to accelerate the rollout of the RSU, Mr. Akhannouch noted that this meeting has assessed the progress made in the implementation of this Registry, stressing the need to speed-up the introduction of social protection, in line with the enlightened vision of HM King Mohammed VI.

The implementation of this mechanism will help identify the people in need of support, said the Head of the Executive, recalling that in the Throne Day Speech, the Sovereign focused on strengthening social protection.

According to Mr. Akhannouch, the beneficiaries of the Medical Assistance Scheme (RAMED) will shift to compulsory health insurance (AMO) by the end of the year. Households with children going to school (7 million) and those in precarious situations (3 million) will receive direct support by the end of next year, he added.

The meeting reflects the government’s firm commitment to accelerate the deployment of the RSU and its monitoring mechanisms, as part of the generalization of social protection, in full compliance with the deadlines set by the Royal Instructions.
