Interest in Moroccans Residing Abroad Draws Essence from Royal Speech on 69th King and People’s Revolution Day

Rabat – The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch said on Tuesday in Rabat that the interest shown to Moroccans living abroad draws its essence from the Royal Speech delivered by the sovereign on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the revolution of the King and the people.

“The interest in the Moroccans of the world draws its essence from the royal speeches, especially the recent royal speech delivered by the Sovereign on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the revolution of the King and the people, which defines the outlines and the foundations for an efficient public policy in terms of management of the affairs of Moroccans living abroad, and for the consolidation of their attachment to their identity and the reinforcement of their contribution to the development of the Kingdom.

The holding of this meeting is part of the high solicitude of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the affairs and concerns of Moroccans living abroad, and as part of the implementation of the High Royal Instructions, each time renewed, aimed at promoting the situation and defending the interests of the Moroccan community residing abroad, he said.

One of the priorities at the current stage is the consolidation of the cultural and spiritual attachment of the Moroccans living abroad, as well as the establishment of a mechanism to support the talents of Moroccans living abroad, to support their initiatives and projects, and to encourage and support their investments, within the framework of the incentives granted by the new Investment Charter, Akhannouch observed.

The head of Government also called for boosting the contribution of the Moroccan community abroad in private investments in the country to capture two-thirds of the overall volume by 2035.

He also called for continued action to improve the services provided to Moroccans abroad through the implementation of programs and projects underway, especially the program on social coverage for their benefit in countries with which Morocco has cooperation agreements in this area.

Akhannouch pleaded for the simplification of administrative procedures and the use of digitalization, and called for tackling all the problems concerning the civil status service and the application of the family code for the Moroccans living abroad.

He also noted that the government will continue to work for the integration of the participation of members of the Moroccan community residing abroad in governance bodies and consultative institutions.

The government plans to proceed as soon as possible with the modernization and upgrading of the institutional framework relating to the Moroccans of the World, especially with regard to the reorganization of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad; and to ensure the complementarity of the action programs of the departments concerned with the affairs of the Moroccans of the World and their convergence with the interventions of the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans residing abroad.

He called, on this occasion, all departments and public institutions concerned, as well as the finance and business sector to accelerate the pace of materialization of programs to improve the situation of Moroccans of the world in Morocco and in their host countries.

Akhannouch urged the members of the Ministerial Commission to work on the implementation of the necessary measures in accordance with the High Royal Instructions as well as the implementation of the decisions and other recommendations resulting from this meeting.

He also called for holding periodic meetings of the technical committee resulting from the Commission to ensure the follow-up of the implementation of its decisions and recommendations.
