Noureddine Bikr, Great Man of Theater, Laid to Rest in Casablanca

Casablanca – The funeral of Noureddine Bikr, a leading figure of national theater and TV in Morocco, took place on Friday in Casablanca in an atmosphere of recollection and great emotion. The body of late Noureddine Bikr was buried in the Chouhada cemetery after Al-Asr and funeral prayers, in the presence of family members, relatives, artists, actors, writers and media representatives.

In a statement to MAP at the Chouhada cemetery, artist Mohamed Khiyari stressed that the departed was a prominent figure and an icon of Moroccan theater.

For his part, playwright Hassan Rais said that the death of great artist and brother Noureddine Bikr is a great loss, recalling a quote from the deceased “one cannot be an artist without being a human.”

The Moroccan Union of Professionals in the Dramatic Arts announced the death Friday morning of the actor and great man of theater, who passed away at the age of 70 following a long illness.

Born in Casablanca in 1952, Bikr was a leading figure of national theater. Among his most memorable works are the plays “Cherreh Melleh” and “Hab w Tben”, which he presented with the troupe of “Masrah Al Hay” during the 1990s.

The late Noureddine Bikr is also famous for the roles he played on the small screen in sitcoms and television series such as “Serb Lahmam” and “Zenkat Saâda”, alongside other prominent actors.
