During the meeting, Mr. Azzan Zungu stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations between Morocco and Tanzania to open up new horizons for cooperation between the two countries, a statement from the Lower House said.
He further highlighted the key role of the friendship group between the two legislative institutions in strengthening cooperation and consultation.
In this regard, the Deputy Speaker expressed his desire to institutionalize cooperative relations between the National Assembly of the Republic of Tanzania and the House of Representatives of Morocco by signing a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, according to the same source.
In the same vein, he hailed the development of Morocco in several sectors, especially agriculture, water management and the fertilizer industry, stating that “Morocco produces high-quality fertilizers, and Tanzania has vast arable land, and there are promising opportunities to establish successful partnerships between the two countries.”
Mr. Azzan Zungu called for the development of economic and commercial exchange and the sharing of experiences and expertise in the health, pharmaceutical and education sectors, adding that the two countries have a lot in common.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives recalled the historic visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Tanzania in 2016, which was marked by the signature of several agreements covering promising areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The Kingdom is keen to strengthen its parliamentary relations with the Republic of Tanzania, especially on issues of common concern, and to promote solidarity, development, peace and stability between the African countries, where sovereignty and territorial integrity of States are strictly respected, he said.
The two parties agreed to institutionalize cooperation between the two legislative institutions, intensify consultation and exchange visits between the parliamentarians of the two countries, and share experiences and expertise at the parliamentary level.
