Argentine Coach Praises ‘Great Progress’ of Soccer in Morocco

Buenos Aires – Argentine soccer coach and former international player Luis Blanco affirmed that the practice of football has made “great progress” in Morocco, both at the level of the clubs and the national squad.

There is a good level of soccer in Morocco, Blanco told Moroccan news channel M24. The Atlas Lions have managed to reach the finals of the World Cup in Qatar, he added.

Many Moroccan teams participate in and achieve good results in various continental competitions, added the coach who played for several Argentine clubs in the 70’s and 80’s.

The touch of the President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Football (French acronym FRMF), Faouzi Lekjaa, is visible in the rapid development of soccer in Morocco, said Blanco, who played for Club Atlético Lanús and Boca Juniors (Argentina) before embarking on a professional career in Bolivia, the USA and Canada.

The FRMF has created the right conditions for the development of the game by allocating important funds and betting on young talents, he observed.

Morocco can benefit from the experience of a large number of Moroccan professional footballers playing in European leagues, who can contribute to the development of soccer in Morocco, Blanco concluded.
