Social Dialogue’s 2nd Round Marked by Trust between All Parties – Economy Minister

Rabat – The second round of social dialogue began Wednesday, held at the invitation of Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, has noted the climate of trust established between all social partners, the government and employers, said Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui.

In a statement to the press, the Minister assured that the government has been able to implement the decisions taken during the signing of the tripartite social agreement on April 30 between the government, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the most representative trade unions.

She noted that the government has confirmed its support for the implementation of a decision to upgrade the pensioners of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) of 5% with retroactive effect to 1 January 2020. This is more than 600,000 beneficiaries who have not seen an increase for over 18 years, she noted.

Fettah Alaoui highlighted the reduction of the conditions of access to the old age pension, which are reduced from 3240 days of contribution to 1320 days, with the possibility for the pensioner who has reached the legal age of retirement and has 1320 days of contribution, to be refunded the share of employee and employer contributions.

These are concrete achievements for a population of retirees who were waiting for measures to improve their pensions, she said. The meeting was also marked by “good intelligence” to open other topics of discussion and address important social issues, such as the reform of the pension system, she further noted.
