Signed by Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mohcine Jazouli, and president of the Barceló Group, Simón Pedro Barceló Vadell, this memorandum of understanding consists of the acquisition and renovation of several hotels in Morocco, in order to give them a new lease of life and enrich the hotel offer of the Kingdom.
The Minister also inaugurated the Barceló Tangier hotel, a historic property dating from 1950, which is being renovated to offer a new experience to travelers.
In a statement to the press, Ammor stressed that this memorandum aims to strengthen the presence of the group Barceló in Morocco and diversify the tourism offer in Tangier.
For his part, Jazouli said that this memorandum signed with a major Spanish operator, which is among the leading hotel groups in Morocco and which has planned to invest 500 million dirhams in the coming years, aims to promote investment in tourism, a sector fundamental to the economy of Morocco.
Barceló Vadell affirmed the willingness of the group to contribute to the development of tourism in Tangier, stressing that the group currently has six hotels in Morocco, including in Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Agadir and Tangier.
After welcoming the support of the Moroccan authorities to this project, the official reiterated the commitment of the group to strengthen its investments in Morocco and to contribute actively to the promotion of the tourism sector.
