Participants in the first meeting of FANA General Secretariat, held on the sidelines of the 97th Ordinary Session of the Standing Committee of Arab Media, preparatory to the 52nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information, stressed the importance of this event which will be organized by the Moroccan News Agency.
During this meeting, the body examined the report presented on the 4th symposium of Arab women journalists to be held next December in Morocco, as it called in its final recommendations on the news agencies members of the federation to participate in this event because of its importance in defending the rights of Arab women journalists working in news agencies.
On this occasion, FANA General Secretariat expressed its consideration and gratitude to MAP Director General, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi for agreeing to hold the symposium in Morocco in order to deepen the reflection on the issues related to women’s work in press institutions in general and news agencies in particular.
In this spirit, FANA General Secretariat called for the creation of a special section for Arab women journalists on the federation’s website, which is being updated, to highlight their activities, as well as the establishment of a special program for Arab women journalists within the framework of the activities of the Federation’s training center to enable them to acquire the necessary skills to occupy positions of responsibility.
In addition, the meeting stressed the need for Arab women journalists, who will take part in the Rabat symposium, to establish a committee to communicate with each other and provide the General Secretariat with new ideas, projects and topics to be discussed at the 5th symposium in 2023.
This meeting also addressed issues related to the financial situation of the Federation, the situation of payment of dues by members, the preparation of the work of the 49th conference of the general assembly of the federation, scheduled for November 15 to 17 in Abu Dhabi, as well as the establishment of the FANA award for improving the quality of work within member agencies.
Participants were also briefed on the results of a training workshop on time management and media effectiveness in times of crisis.
