Compared to the same period in 2019, the national airports have experienced a positive recovery rate of 74% for passengers and 78% for airport movements, the Office said in a statement.
In August, the Kingdom’s airports received 2,473,495 passengers through 18.918 flights, i. e. a recovery rate of 94% and 91% respectively compared to 2019.
Between January and August 2022, the Mohammed V airport has received 4,659,571 passengers through 42,288 flights, posting recovery rates of 67% and 69% respectively compared to the same period in 2019.
For August alone, the airport received 957,146 passengers through 7,522 flights, vols, i.e. a recovery rate of 82% and 79% respectively, according to the same source.
During the same month, most airports reached or even exceeded the number of passengers or flights recorded in August 2019.
Between June 5 and the end of August, several airports have surpassed the activity levels of 2019 with recovery rates exceeding 100% (Agadir: 111%, Tangier: 127%, Fez: 115%, Nador: 142%, Oujda: 129%, Tetouan: 359% and Essaouira: 139%).
In the eight first months of 2022, international air traffic recorded 10,959,581 passengers, representing a recovery rate of about 74%. Air cargo stood at 46,760 tonnes during the period in review, which represents a recovery rate of 74%.
During August, air freight recorded a recovery rate of 80% compared to the same period of 2019, totaling 5,105 tonnes.
