Faouzia with “RIP Love”, Jaylann with the track “Oui Oui”, Manal/”Makhelaw Magalou”, Marwa Loud & Moha K “Ghir Ntiya” and Rym/”Stylo Warqa” are competing for the “Best Female Artist in Northern Africa” award.
Faouzia/”RIP Love” and Moha K, Marwa Loud/”Ghir Ntiya” are also competing in “Best African Act In Diaspora (Female)” category.
Kouz1 with “Magic” is among the nominees for “Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Pop” Award.
Chaama & Eljoee with “Burakia” and Manal/”3ari” will compete for the title of “Best Female Artist in Africa Inspirational Music”.
Culled from a total of 9,067 entries submitted- the highest number ever recorded by the awards, since its inception – the AFRIMA jury selected a total of 382 nominations across 39 categories, to represent all five regions in Africa, as well as in the diaspora, a statement from the organizers said.
Leading the nominations on a regional basis this year is the Western African region, with 134 nominations, representing 35%; while the Eastern African region follows closely with 69 nominations, representing 18%; the Southern African region races closely with 68 nominations, representing 17.8%.
Central Africa pulls in its weight with 52 nominations, representing 13.6%; while the Northern African region follows closely with 49 nominations, representing 12.8%, according to the same source.
Also, the Global music region, which represents music from Non-Africans in the diaspora who still contribute to the growth of the African region, sums up the list with 10 nominations, representing 2.6%.
Public voting begins globally on September 25, while the main awards will take place December 8-11.
