Morocco Beats Chile 2-0 in Friendly: First Success for Coach Walid Regragui

Barcelon – The Moroccan soccer team won hands down against its Chilean counterpart by 2-0 (half 0-0) in a friendly match played Friday night at the RCDE stadium in Barcelona.

This is the first game of the Atlas Lions under the leadership of their new coach Walid Regragui, appointed in late August.

Regragui chose the duo Achraf Dari and Ghanem Saiss in defense, with Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui as fullbacks. Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech started in the middle line, as did Youssef En-nesyri in the attack.

Although Chile failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the team proved to be a quality sparring partner for the Atlas Lions.

This victory is, without a doubt, beneficial for the morale of the players, who are trying to adapt to the tactical scheme of Walid Regragui.

The Moroccan selection will play its counterpart of Paraguay in a friendly, next Tuesday in Seville. These two games are part of the preparations for the Moroccan selection for the World Cup in Qatar.

In the final phase of the World Cup, the Atlas Lions will play in Group F alongside Belgium, Croatia and Canada.
