Tanger-Med Port Customs Seize Gold Coins Worth Over MAD 500K in Tanger-Med

Tangier – The customs operating at the port of Tanger Med have recently foiled an attempt to traffic gold coins worth 570,000 dirhams.

On Sunday, the customs aborted an attempt to export 150 pure gold old French coins without authorization, a source at the customs said.

Investigations have shown that these coins date to the Napoleon Bonaparte era.

A Frenchman attempted to smuggle these coins, weighing 964 grams, out of the Moroccan territory. Following the scanning procedure, a careful manual search of his travel bag allowed the seizure of the coins.
