AMSSNuR, Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration Sign MoU

Rabat – The Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR) signed Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU with the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration on the sidelines of the 66th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held in Vienna on September 26-30.

This agreement provides for the exchange of technical information and cooperation in the fields of nuclear and radiological safety and security between Morocco and Slovenia.

The MoU was signed by AMSSNuR Acting Director, Mounji Zniber, and Director of the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration, Igor Sirc, in the presence of Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the International Organizations in Vienna, Azzedine Farhane, and his Slovenian counterpart Ambassador Barbara Zvokelj, according to a press release of the AMSSNuR.

The MoU aims to facilitate cooperation and information sharing between the two parties, particularly with regard to the development of the legislative and regulatory framework in the fields of nuclear safety and radiation protection, licensing and inspection processes and procedures, regulatory assessment and periodic safety review of research reactors.

It also aims to facilitate cooperation and information sharing between the two parties in the management of radioactive waste and spent fuel, emergency preparedness and response, education, training and capacity building in nuclear safety and radiation protection, culture, leadership, and management of nuclear safety, integrated management system, policies and strategies for nuclear safety and communication, said the release.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding is part of the efforts made by the AMSSNuR to promote international cooperation, through the exchange of technical information and sharing of experiences and best practices, through scientific visits, expert missions and cooperation projects.
