Mexico: Minister Bensaid Discusses Cultural Cooperation with Peers from African Countries

Mexico City – Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid held, Thursday in Mexico City, a series of meetings with his counterparts from other African countries focused on the development of cultural cooperation.

During these meetings with the Ministers of Culture of Benin, Burkina Faso and Libya, discussions focused on ways to strengthen cooperation and intensify exchanges between African countries for the development and prosperity of the continent.

On this occasion, Bensaid stressed that Morocco, in accordance with the high guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is constantly working for the development of Africa, especially through the promotion of the diversity of its cultural heritage and its multiform tributaries.

He also stressed the need to develop the film industry in Africa and co-productions as well as to take advantage of expertise and local skills to strengthen the influence of a continent with rich and varied resources.

For their part, the ministers of other African countries welcomed the efforts of Morocco for the development of the continent in various fields, stressing the importance of highlighting the cultural specificities of Africa to establish a fruitful cooperation between countries and peoples.

Bensaid is leading the Moroccan delegation to the UNESCO Mondiacult World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development, which is being held from 28 to 30 September in the Mexican capital.
