Minister Sadiki Received in Nouakchott by Mauritanian PM

Nouakchott – Mauritanian Prime Minister, Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, met, Friday in Nouakchott, with Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki.

In a statement to the press, Sadiki stressed that the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 1st session of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Joint Commission in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, was an opportunity to reaffirm the common will to strengthen cooperation relations in the field of fisheries.

The meeting was also an occasion to emphasize the excellent level of fraternal relations under the enlightened leadership of the leaders of both countries, HM King Mohammed VI and Mauritanian president Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, he said.

In the same context, Sadiki held talks with Mauritanian Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Mohamed Abdine Amayef.

During the meeting, the official expressed the willingness of Morocco to move forward in the development of cooperation between the two sister countries in all areas, including the preservation of fisheries resources and product quality, as well as continued coordination in order to meet all the challenges related to international competition, especially with regard to the marketing of seafood products of both countries.

For his part, the Mauritanian minister welcomed the good relations between Morocco and Mauritania, stressing the need to work together to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation in the fisheries sector and the maritime economy.

The two parties agreed on the modalities of implementation of the cooperation agreement between the two countries in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, signed on March 11 in Rabat within the framework of the eighth session of the Moroccan-Mauritanian High Joint Commission.

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests also held talks with Mauritanian Minister of Agriculture, Yahya Ould Ahmed Al-Waqf, on the various aspects of cooperation between the two countries in areas of priority for both countries.

In the same context, Sadiki, accompanied by the Mauritanian Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, visited the logistical platform of storage and cooling of fish of the National Company of Fish Distribution.
