Lower House Speaker Holds Talks with Luxembourg FM

Rabat – Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami on Tuesday held talks with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, currently visiting the Kingdom.

This meeting was an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen relations between Morocco and Luxembourg in particular, and between the Kingdom and the European Union in general, said the House of Representatives in a statement, noting that discussions have also focused on topics of common interest, highlighting, in this regard, the role of legislative bodies.

On this occasion, Asselborn expressed the determination of his country to strengthen its economic relations with Morocco, announcing a visit soon to the Kingdom of a high-level delegation of Luxembourg businessmen in order to explore investment opportunities and establish economic partnerships, the statement said.

For his part, Talbi Alami welcomed the strength of bilateral relations, noting that the two countries share the same values of democracy, freedom, respect for human rights, tolerance, while ensuring peace, stability and international security.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives took this opportunity to review the achievements of the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Talbi Alami also presented an overview of the Constitution of 2011, the evolution of the Moroccan Sahara file, as well as the prerogatives of the House of Representatives, its composition, its functions and its relations with other authorities and bodies in the country.

The meeting between Talbi El Alami and Asselborn was also an opportunity to discuss several regional and international issues included among the priorities of the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary work agenda.
