The visit of this delegation, led by Angus Brendan MacNeil, and composed of Marc Garnier and Mike Wood, represents the first trip of a British parliamentary delegation to economic and trade in Morocco, after the signing of the Association Agreement between Morocco and the United Kingdom.
Organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in London, at the invitation of the General Confederation of Moroccan Businesses (CGEM), this visit was an opportunity for British MPs to learn about major projects launched in Morocco and to highlight the importance of port infrastructure for international trade and the role of Tanger Med in this regard.
During the visit, which took place in the presence of Tanger Med Director Rachid Houari and a number of Tanger Med Group officials, the delegation learned about the port’s facilities and organization, as well as its role as a key global logistics gateway and example of integration into world trade.
The meeting was marked by a presentation on the Tanger Med port complex delivered by Houari, in which he emphasized the importance of this major world-class project, initiated by HM King Mohammed VI, reviewing the various stages of its development.
Houari recalled the positioning of Tanger Med as the first port in Africa for five years and the first port in the Mediterranean for 2 years, noting that this large-scale infrastructure plays an essential role as a transshipment hub.
