Chairwoman of Israel Securities Authority Expected in Morocco for 47th IOSCO Conference

Tel Aviv – The chairwoman of the Israel Securities Authority, Anat Guetta, will travel to Morocco to take part in the 47th annual conference of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), which will be held in Marrakech from October 17 to 19.

A statement by the said authority said that Guetta will present at the conference her positions regarding open finance, financial technology and crypto-currencies, in addition to their impact, benefits and risks.

According to Anat Guetta, “the biggest challenge in implementing technological innovation in the financial markets is the need to continue to learn and keep up with the pace of change brought by new technologies. As regulators, it is our responsibility to equalize financial opportunities for the public, participating companies and entrepreneurs”.

She added: “I believe in partnership because we learn from each other, and we must make an effort to create a global space that allows, on the one hand, the legitimate activity, and, on the other hand, manages the risks associated with this activity, and I am convinced that this conference is the right place to build international cooperation in this regard”.

According to the statement, last month Israel made a significant achievement in promoting financial innovation, “by granting the first licenses to four financial technology companies that will pioneer the consumer financial revolution in Israel.”

The annual meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions, which is being held for the first time in Morocco, brings together each year representatives of about 100 financial market regulators as well as other members of the international financial community.
