Under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, these ties have been strengthened through more than 50 state visits to over thirty countries, where nearly 1,000 agreements have been signed with our partners in sub-Saharan Africa, from 1999 to 2019, recalled the head of government at the opening of the 3rd Choiseul Africa Business Forum, held with the participation of president of the Republic of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina.
“This movement is that of a royal vision of strategic partnership, which has allowed Morocco to become the first African investor in West Africa, and the second on the continent,” said Akhannouch, praising the pioneering role played by Moroccan banks, which are present in 26 African countries and cover nearly half of the African continent.
He noted that “Choiseul Africa Business Forum” is an event dedicated to the development of business opportunities in Africa and with Africa, noting that it is a renewed opportunity to enrich the dialogue between the various actors of the continent, “but also with their partners in Europe and the Gulf countries”.
In this regard, the head of government stressed that Morocco can play the role of bridge, facilitator of foreign investment in the continent, with Europe. The Kingdom can also play this role with the rest of the world, underlined Akhannouch, explaining that to do so, the Kingdom has made, for several years, under the enlightened vision of HM the King, the bet to develop infrastructure to international standards, which can ensure enhanced connectivity between Africa and the rest of the world.
According to Akhannouch, Choiseul distinguishes today 100 brilliant young leaders including 12 Moroccans who contribute to the development of Africa, adding that in Morocco the question of talents is central to the dynamics of reform impelled by HM the King, and which the government has fully seized, for the various socio-economic projects launched.
In this context, he cited the reform of social protection, the overhaul of the national health system, the reform of public schools to restore equal opportunities and the investment charter being adopted, for a renewed dynamic of private investment, generating value and jobs for the country.
Akhannouch stressed that “the Republic of Madagascar is the example of a country with which Morocco has excellent historical and economic relations,” expressing his thanks to president of the Republic of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina for attending this third edition.
He took the opportunity to recall the visit of HM the King to Madagascar in 2016, noting that it was a highly symbolic visit “which reflects the importance attached to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries”.
