2023 Appropriation Bill Aims to Preserve Status of Auto-entrepreneur (Minister)

Rabat – The measure proposed in the draft appropriation bill (PLF) for the year 2023 concerning people registered in the self-entrepreneur scheme and that of the single professional contribution (CPU) aims to preserve this status, said Tuesday in Rabat, Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah.

Speaking at a press briefing on the presentation of the 2023 PLF, Fettah said that the status of the auto-entrepreneur is used to circumvent the wage and its charges.

In this regard, she said that the new measure provides to exclude from this regime, the surplus of annual turnover exceeding 50,000 dirhams, which is achieved for services with the same client. She added that the surplus of the turnover is going to be subjected to the withholding tax by the aforementioned customer, at a rate of 30%.

Fettah stressed that this measure comes after the use of the status of the auto-entrepreneur to circumvent the wage, reaffirming the importance attached by the government to the preservation of the original purpose of this status, and not the increase in taxes.

This new measure will also fight against the vulnerability of jobs, since it would contribute to the protection of employees, she noted, reiterating the attachment of the Executive to this status that has shown its relevance especially among artisans and traders.
