Rabat – Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi on Wednesday said that Law 95-17 on arbitration and conventional mediation is one of the most important reforms conducted in Morocco.

The Minister, who spoke at a study day organized at the House of Representatives, said that this text is of crucial importance in terms of positioning the Kingdom at the international level.

He further revealed that specialized economic institutions assess the effectiveness of measures in favor of arbitration and mediation in countries before proceeding to their rating.

Ouahbi also highlighted the importance of having an arbitration that asserts itself by its “strength, speed and simplicity”, adding that this involves freeing itself from many formalities and mechanisms, in addition to the establishment of an arbitration respected by all parties.

He also noted that arbitration and mediation require specific training, announcing that his department is seeking to create a Master’s degree on arbitration, in coordination with many universities.
