Morocco Has Human, Structural Potential to Attract Arab Investments (Minister)

Tangier – Morocco has the human and structural potential to attract Arab investments and allow it to assume the role of development locomotive on the regional level, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Riyad Mezzour, said on Tuesday in Tangier.

Speaking by video conference at the opening of the 3rd Forum of industrial zones and their role in attracting investment and developing exports, Mezzour noted that the fact that this regional economic event was placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI illustrates the importance attached by the Sovereign to regional economic cooperation, the role of investment in the development of Arab economies and networking efforts of Arab countries.

The Minister noted that the achieving industrial and energy sovereignty and strengthening the competitive capacity on the national and regional levels require the coordination of Arab efforts in the economic field and to give particular importance to industrial zones and their optimal exploitation, while working to prepare the conditions for an effective partnership, adding that the Kingdom has established, in this context, attractive infrastructure, open to investors and easy access.

Mezzour noted that Morocco has adopted a balanced policy, through an equitable distribution of structural projects and infrastructure on all regions of the country, while taking into account the specificities and potentialities of each of them, adding that the Kingdom’s industrial zones are known for the quality of their infrastructure, services and locations, which are, alongside an incentive legal framework, key elements to attract international, regional and national investments.

He noted that this forum, although it is organized in a difficult economic and regional situation, lays the foundation for inter-Arab cooperation based on the win-win principle, with the aim of achieving economic balance, ensure its sustainability and meet the challenge of development, especially since the industrial zones are one of the main pillars of economic development, improving competitiveness and achieving industrial sovereignty.

The official said that the organization of this event in Tangier also reflects the development achieved by Morocco in terms of attracting investment and setting up the infrastructure required to stimulate the economy, as well as the role that Morocco plays as a link between different regions of the world and in promoting cooperation, especially the regional one.

In the same context, the Minister stressed that Morocco has put into practice and on the ground all the bases necessary to attract investment, including areas equipped or those being equipped, covering an area of 12,000 Ha.

He added that the Kingdom has created 138 industrial zones and 12 industrial acceleration zones that offer high-level services for all sectors attractive to investment, noting that Morocco has also launched an electronic platform that allows access to data from industrial zones, in addition to the legal incentives and regional and central centers that support the investment.

Mezzour called on Arab businesspersons to invest in Morocco, as it offers real and promising investment opportunities, recalling in this sense that the Kingdom is a reliable partner and a world-class production base.
