Marrakech: ONEE, MEKOROT Sign MoU in Field of Drinking Water, Liquid Sanitation

Marrakech – The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and the National Water Company of the State of Israel, “Mekorot” signed, Thursday in Marrakech, a Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of drinking water and liquid sanitation.

Signed by Abderrahim El Hafidi, Director General of ONEE and Yitzhak Aharonovich, president of Mekorot, on the sidelines of the Global Investment Forum 2022, this agreement, which defines the framework of cooperation between the two organizations in the fields of drinking water and liquid sanitation, takes place after the Memorandum of Understanding concluded on December 22, 2020 between the Government of the Kingdom and the Government of the State of Israel on the Innovation and Development of Water Resources.

The MoU between ONEE and Mekorot, aims to establish a framework for the realization of cooperation actions, between the two parties, in the fields of seawater desalination, improvement of the performance of drinking water works, management of facilities through the development of digitalization and geographic information systems, water quality, management of sludge from drinking water treatment plants and the introduction of innovative technologies.

Under this Memorandum, ONEE and Mekorot also intend to carry out actions in the areas of research and development and capacity building as well as in the areas of communication and awareness in the field of drinking water and liquid sanitation.
