Speaking at a press conference, Walid Regragui stressed that this positive result will be a source of motivation for his players to play their next game with a high morale.
He added that this draw against Croatia, vice-champion of the world and a team full of experienced players, will boost the confidence of the players who have made a great game and have shown a good level against a strong opponent.
“The players made a good game against a great team, considered one of the best in this World Cup,” he noted, adding that the main thing is to get this valuable point and avoid defeat in the first match.
Despite the good performance of the players, he highlighted “some mistakes” that should be avoided in the next game to go further in the competition.
Walid Regragui also praised the strong support of Moroccan fans who encouraged the national team until the last minutes of the game.
For his part, the coach of Croatia, Zlatko Dalić, said that his team faced a tough opponent who presented a game of good level and managed to break the attacks of his players on more than one occasion.
He added that “the Moroccan team has shown good capabilities in this match and is a team to be reckoned with,” noting that “our team had possession of the ball, but without effectiveness. We faced difficulties to carry out attacks while paying attention to the counter-attacks”.
The Atlas Lions will face Belgium on Sunday at the Al Thumama Stadium, as part of the 2nd day of group F.
