Arrouchi, who was speaking at the 5th Annual Consultative Meeting held, by video conference, between the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) and the UN Peacebuilding Commission on climate and peacebuilding in Africa, stressed that as an internationally committed actor, the Kingdom continues to support the efforts of the international community to address the climate challenge.
In this context, Morocco under the visionary leadership of His Majesty the King, is committed to making climate issues in Africa a priority, reaffirmed the Moroccan diplomat, recalling in this sense that the Sovereign took the initiative to convene the 1st African Action Summit on the sidelines of COP22 in November 2016, in Marrakech, which was an opportunity for African leaders to coordinate and harmonize their actions to combat climate change, as well as to seek the best solutions to the climate challenges facing the continent.
Arrouchi added that during this Summit, African heads of state committed to accelerate the implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening Africa’s resilience to climate threats, including the initiative for “Adaptation of African Agriculture – AAA”.
