Sports Minister, IBF President Discuss Promotion of National Boxing

Rabat – Sports Minister Chakib Benmoussa and International Boxing Federation (IBF) President Umar Kremley held talks, on Wednesday in Rabat, on promoting boxing at the national level, training referees and organizing major events.

During these interviews, which were attended by Royal Moroccan Boxing Federation (FRMB) President Abdeljaouad Belhaj, both parties discussed cooperation means for the development of this discipline, the exchange of experiences and the training of referees and coaches.

In this regard, Benmoussa pointed out that Morocco has organized and participated in many boxing competitions, and Moroccan pugilists have managed to win many medals in various competitions in which they have participated.

According to the Moroccan minister, these competitions include the African Championship and the World Championship, in addition to Moroccan boxers’ performance in the Olympic Games.

For his part, Kremlev hailed Morocco’s efforts in general and those of the Royal Moroccan Boxing Federation in particular to promote this discipline, expressing his satisfaction with the results obtained by Moroccan female boxers during the Women’s World Championship held in Istanbul last May.

He considered it very important for the FRMB to be active in this field, adding that the Kingdom has all the conditions to host major sporting events and make them a success.
