In an address on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which took place at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Alaoui M’Hammdi, dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps accredited in Addis Ababa, stressed that the efforts and initiatives undertaken by Morocco in favor of the Palestinian cause illustrate the sincere and constant commitment of the Kingdom which is based on concrete actions on the ground highly welcomed by the Palestinian leadership and people.
“On this occasion when the whole world celebrates every year with the Palestinian people the justness and legitimacy of the Palestinian cause, the Kingdom of Morocco: King, government and people, reiterates its solidarity, commitment and constant position with the brotherly Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for the recovery of their legitimate and just national rights headed by the establishment of their independent state at the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Al-Quds as its capital,” said the Moroccan diplomat.
The city of Al-Quds Asharif occupies a special place in the consciousness of the Arab and Islamic peoples in view of its spiritual dimension, hence the need to work to preserve the legal, civilized and religious status of this city as a common heritage of humanity and a land of meeting and symbol of peaceful coexistence for the followers of the three monotheistic religions, a position that was reiterated by HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, through the “Al Quds Appeal” which was signed by His Majesty the King, Amir Al-Mouminine (Commander of the Faithful), chairman of the Al Quds Committee, and His Holiness Pope Francis, stressed Alaoui M’Hammdi.
The Moroccan diplomat also highlighted the commendable efforts undertaken by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, highlighting the concrete projects carried out by the Agency for the benefit of the Maqdissis in the social, health, cultural and educational fields, among others.
