“Thank you Heroes! The qualification of the national team in the semifinals of the World Cup as the first Arab and African team to achieve this feat is a source of pride for all Moroccans,” wrote the Head of Government on his Twitter account.
“We are entitled today to be proud of this generation that has raised the bar of expectations and allowed our country to be among the best gootball teams in the world,” he added.
Morocco qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup (Qatar-2022), after beating Portugal by 1 goal to 0, on Saturday at the al-Thumama Stadium.
The Atlas Lions’ winning goal was scored by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 42nd minute.
Morocco will face in the semi-final France which beat England by 2-1 on Saturday night.
