Morocco: National Savings Increase to 369.6 Billion Dirhams in 2021 (Statistics Office)

Casablanca – National savings reached 369.6 billion dirhams (MMDH) in 2021, an improvement of 16.2% compared to 2020, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

Financial and non-financial companies contributed 57.9%, households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) 34.5% and public administrations 7.6%, said the HCP in an information note on the national accounts of institutional sectors for the year 2021.

The gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) stood at 346.9 MMDH, up 14.8% compared to 2020, the same source said, adding that companies (financial and non-financial) have contributed 51.8% to the national GFCF in 2021.

For their part, households and NPISHs contributed 29.1% and public administration 19.1%.

Overall, the need for financing was 29.1 MMDH in 2021 and represented 2.3% of GDP instead of 1.2% a year earlier, said the HCP.
