French Daily L’Équipe Chooses 3 Moroccan Players for 2022 World Cup Team

Paris – Three players of the Moroccan soccer team have been chosen by French sports daily L’Équipe to appear in the typical team of the Qatar-2022 World Cup, after the final won, Sunday, in the penalty shootout by Argentina at the expense of France.

They are the right back Achraf Hakimi, the central defender and captain of the Atlas Lions Romain Saïss and the midfielder Sofiane Amrabat.

The three players have been selected alongside goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic (Croatia), central defender Joško Gvardiol (Croatia), left back Marcos Acuna (Argentina), midfielder Enzo Fernandez (Argentina), midfielder Lucas Modric (Croatia) and forwards Bukayo Saka (England), Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Kylian Mbappé (France).

The Atlas Lions made history at the Qatar World Cup, becoming the first Arab and African team to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup.

The Moroccan national team lost in the semi-final (2-0) against France.

The Atlas Lions finished 4th in the World Cup after their defeat in the classification match against Croatia (2-1).
