Casablanca: Police Foil International Drug Trafficking Attempt, Seize 25K Ecstasy Tablets

Rabat – Police in the city of Casablanca foiled, Friday, on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), an attempt of international drug trafficking and seized 25,000 ecstasy tablets.

The quantity of the drug was in the possession of the driver of an international transport truck registered in Europe, said the national police (DGSN) in a statement, adding that the suspect, who was smuggling the cargo from Spain, tried to hand it over to a second suspect in Casablanca.

During this operation, the vehicle used in international drug trafficking was also seized.

 The driver and the second suspect were placed in custody to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor to clarify the possible national and international ramifications of this criminal activity and determine all the acts of which the two suspects are accused, concluded the statement.
