Brazil: Soccer Legend Pele Dies at 82

Brasilia – Brazilian and world soccer legend Pele, three-time world champion with the Brazilian national team, died Thursday at the age of 82 in Sao Paulo, where he was hospitalized for a month to treat colon cancer.

The athlete of the century was hospitalized at the Albert Einstein Hospital, in Sao Paulo, since November 29. The hospitalization was due to a respiratory infection after contracting Covid-19 and for the re-evaluation of the treatment of colon cancer.
