Moroccan Comedian Abderraouf Passes Away

Casablanca – Abderrahim Tounsi, the brilliant comedian commonly known as Abderraouf, died on Sunday night in his home in Casablanca, the Union of Theatre Professionals said.

The deceased died peacefully in the early hours of Monday at the age of 86 years after a long illness, said Massoud Bouhssine, president of the Moroccan Union of Theatre Professionals.

Abderraouf, who began his artistic career in the 60s, has marked the memory of several generations of Moroccans by his buffoon style, with his nasal voice, his red fez, his jabador and his colored seroual.

During his long career, the deceased has left an anthology of works, hundreds of sketches, countless TV appearances and two movies, Majid (2011) and Ammi (2016).
